Leading the Procession....Stealing the Show Flowergirl Dresses

Girls Clothes, flower girl dressesYour little one has the royal privilege of leading the wedding procession down the aisle. This is an awesome responsibility to headline the show in the perfect flower girl dress from Sophiasstyle.com. Tossing lovely petals prior the procession signifies the elegance and royalty of what is to follow. We all dream of the perfect wedding and mostly a long loving married life together.

Fresh rose petals were used as wedding throws in the middle ages, since they are known to have been used to decorate the bride's hair from very early times. The wedding throw was initially a pagan rite, and grains and seeds were thrown rather than rice, which spread from the orient to the west in the Middle Ages. What people threw would naturally depend on the crops indigenous to the area, and the idea was that the fertility symbolized by the seeds would be passed on to the couple.

Completing the procession of flower Girl dresses with the perfect flower basket, lovely sparkly shoes, head and hair accessories complete the specialness of this important day. And you larger families don’t fight over who will be the flower girl just have all the little girls in the wedding and change the color of the sash and add a flower of the same color to the dress

The baby flower girl dress is also available in all colors and sizes for your lovely day! This will be a grace filled day certain to go down in "one of the funnest days ff my life" book as you grow up.

First Communion is About Family | SophiasStyle.com

At Sunday church last week a beautiful little girl was sitting sandwiched in between her parents, wearing a beautiful 1st communion dress. She was the only child dressed for a first communion in the entire church, and I wondered why. Near the end of mass I got my answer. The priest explained that the first communion ceremony for all the second grade students was supposed to take place in a few weeks, but that this little girl’s father was being deployed to Iraq in just a few days. The little girl had an early ceremony by herself so that her father could witness such a special event in her life.

I wasn’t the only one in the church who was brought to tears by the scene before us. It was very touching and beautiful! The little girl and her family looked so happy. That is truly what first communion is all about. Sophias Style makes taking care of her attire easy, so that you can focus on what is really important. Our communion gowns are simple yet elegant and best of all are affordable too! We also have the perfect shoes, veils, gloves and other accessories to complete her look.

A Creative Way to Save Money On Your Wedding | Sophias Style

Everywhere you look it’s all about weddings – expensive weddings. There are some many things that cost so
much – flowers, food, you name it! It seems like the list of wedding “must haves” keeps growing and growing. I realized this very early on during my own wedding planning process.

Stationary is quickly ballooning into a bridal budget buster. If you’re sending “Save the Date” cards, don’t be surprised if they are almost as detailed (and almost as expensive!) as the actual wedding invitations! The other day I came across a great idea for a save the date card that’s a little different. These are actually Save the Date Stickers. They are completely affordable and also a refreshing change from the standard photo magnet or postcard. You can print them yourself and send them in a small envelope that won’t cost any more than standard postage. Send a few to each wedding guest and they can easily mark a day planner or calendar with your wedding date!

Sophias Style offers a tried and true way to save money on your wedding – our boutique flower girl dresses at discount prices! Styles start at just $29.99 and are simply divine. You’re sure to find the perfect one for any age flower girl. Pick out a fabulous baby or toddler flower girl dress that is sure to coordinate perfectly with your wedding color scheme. We also have great hair accessories, shoes and flower girl baskets to match!

Special Occasion Looks for Kids | Sophias Style

Weddings, Baptisms, pageants (and not to mention Easter!) are all coming up soon. ‘Tis the season for all those special occasions! Sophias Style is here to help you find affordable special occasion dresses for girls. Her outfit is important, but don’t forget about another big aspect of her look – the hairstyle!

A grown woman might go have her hair done at a salon for a wedding or special occasion. While this can be a great idea for little girls too, sometimes it is hard to justify for our tiny tots! No matter how much they’re dressed up, they’re always kids first – running, jumping and playing. You hate to see a lot of work on a fancy hairstyle go to waste in 5 minutes flat!

A great do-it-yourself solution for special occasion girls hair only takes a curling iron and an elastic ponytail holder! Curl her hair with whatever curling iron you have around the house and then pull it all up into a ponytail or just the sides up into a half updo. It creates a look that is fancier than her everyday look so it’s perfect for a special event. At the same time, it is casual enough that she can still be herself and feel comfortable. Plus at the end of the day you don’t have hundreds of hair pins to take out!

You can dress up her hairstyle even more by adding a colorful bow or
hair clip – SophiasStyle.com had got plenty of those too! Save big on girls special occasion dresses this season. And don’t forget to pick up a baby special occasion dress for your littlest one too!

Dresses for Flower Girls of All Ages! | SophiasStyle.com

A big decision for brides these days involves that oh-so-famous flower girl. You know she’ll need a beautiful dress (and luckily Sophias Style has got hundreds of affordable flower girl dresses to choose from!) But before you begin shopping, it is important to consider the flower girl’s age.

Many bridal experts and wedding planners say a good age for a flower girl is generally in the 4-7 year old range. Children who are too young might get shy or cranky when the time comes to do their job. Girls who are older might feel a little too grown up for the responsibility.

But wait, you can’t imagine anyone but your little two-year old cousin as flower girl! Don’t worry, you can still make it work - even with the tiniest of flower girls. This is a great time to double (or even triple!) the fun. The trick is to include other flower girls in the bunch who are older and can lead the way for the younger ones. Having another friend along with them can make little flower girls feel less nervous and they’ll gain a better understanding of just what their job is.

No matter what age flower girls you choose, you will find everything they need at Sophias Style. We got infant flower girl dresses, toddler flower girl dresses and even tiny, adorable baby flower girl dresses. You’re sure to find the perfect one for your wedding!

Lovely New Looks From Lito | SophiasStyle.com

I know better than anyone that wedding season is fast approaching. My wedding day is now a mere 6 weeks
away – yikes! Most of my details are finalized and ready to
go – cake flavors, tuxedos and bridesmaids and the flower girl dress.

If I had it all to do over I’d get this heavenly girls special occasion dress by Lito for the flower girl. Purple is an incredibly popular spring and summer wedding color. Nothing would look more divine than this design! There are plenty of bridesmaids dresses and bridal accessories out there that would match these shades of lavender and plum perfectly.

Our new Lito girls dresses also make great pageant or Easter dresses for the season. This particular style comes in two other color combinations: brown and light pink (another popular wedding color duo) and white and pink. They are also available in size 2T-12, so they're perfect for girls of all ages. Absolutely stunning – we gasped in delight when we saw them in person!

Don’t miss out on this fabulous Lito dress at SophiasStyle.com!

Flower Girl Etiquette | SophiasStyle.com

New flower girl dresses and girls special occasion dresses are arriving daily here at SophiasStyle.com and it makes me wonder – is there such a thing as flower girl etiquette? Just a few minutes of internet research and I had my answer – you bet there is! It seems like such a simple concept at first. Little girl, pretty dress, and a walk down the aisle, right? There’s more to it than that! Brides these days have many questions about their flower girl (or flower girls) and what is and isn’t appropriate. Here are a few tips for brides and flower girls-to-be.

Question #1: Who Pays For the Flower Girls Dress?
Should you foot the bill for her flower girl dress or are Mom and Dad responsible? Just like with bridesmaids and groomsmen, the flower girl (or her parents) are generally expected to pay for her attire. However, a great idea is for the bride to buy the dress as an attendant gift . With our wide selection of cheap flower girl dresses at SophiasStyle.com, her dress has never been more affordable! No matter who’s paying, there are options for every budget.

Question #2: A Flower-less Flower Girl?
Many times a ceremony site does not allow throwing of petals or maybe you just aren’t that into them. Will your flower girl look lost without her famous flowers? Instead of tossing petals along the aisle, your flower girl can carry a pomander ball or a tiny bouquet – no mess and still beautiful! Not having a ring bearer? The flower girl can carry the rings instead.

Question #3: How Many Flower Girls Is Too Many?
Maybe you know lots of little girls who would make a great flower girl – and you’re having a hard time just choosing one. Include them all or narrow it down? It’s very common nowadays to have more than one flower girl and two little cuties are always better than one! Still, you don’t want to go overboard. I attended a wedding once with three flower girls and it seemed to be the perfect number. They each held hands and filled the space of the aisle nicely. My personal rule of thumb: if they all can’t walk shoulder to shoulder in one line, you’ve got too many! There are always other jobs you can give the little ones – they can help pass out programs or favors. Of course, it is ultimately your decision and your special day. If six flower girls is what you want, then go for it!

Tasty Turkey Day Treats| SophiasStyle.com

Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! Like me, I’m sure you’re planning a feast with all of those holiday favorites – turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pumpkin pie and more. All those traditional foods just say “Thanksgiving” to me and I can’t wait to spend time with my friends and family at the dinner table.

Here’s another tasty treat you can add to your Thanksgiving menu this year. These adorable turkey cookies from Pilsbury! I saw them in the Sunday paper this weekend and loved the idea. This makes a great craft for kids and will help get everyone into the Turkey Day spirit.

Simply use a dot of frosting to add chocolate candies at the center of a sugar cookie for the turkey’s eyes. Pipe a small dollop of frosting onto candy corns and stick them to the top of the cookie for the feathers. To finish up, use gel frosting to add feet and a beat. Voila – a terrific (and tasty) Thanksgiving turkey!

I hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving with those you love and cherish. And don’t forget about our girls special occasion dresses at SophiasStyle.com and find a special dress for a special day.

What food are you looking forward to this Thanksgiving? Share with us!

Wedding Planning Isn’t Just for Women | SophiasStyle.com

I’ve learned there are lots of surprises that come up when you are planning your wedding. For example, while planning our guest list, my fiancée and I have found that we’ve got a lot more distant relatives than we thought. I mean really, do we have to invite my mom’s third cousin whose last name we can’t even remember? The small affair we were dreaming of is quickly ballooning into an event with loads of guests.

One much more pleasant surprise is how involved my fiancée has been in the wedding planning process. I always thought men were supposed to be bored to tears by all this wedding preparation. However, all the latest bridal magazines and articles will tell you that more and more men are helping plan their weddings. I think it’s great. I’ve always hated the idea that it is supposed to be “my day.” It is our wedding and I think it my fiancée should get the chance to be involved in the details of our special day.

Time is also a big factor. My fiancée and I are both busy with work, school and our everyday lives. A wedding is too big of an event for just one person to plan – we need both sets of our hands in just to cover the bases!

Alright, so maybe he doesn’t jump up and down at the mention of flower girl dresses or centerpiece arrangements, but my fiancée is definitely willing to be involved. We toured several reception venues together before we made a decision and we also picked out our photographer as a team. The other day he called to ask if there were any phone calls he could make to help out. He booked our DJ over his lunch break so now we can cross that off our list.

Of course, there are some things my fiancée just won’t touch – like the flower girl dress. Luckily, that was an easy job for me anyway. SophiasStyle.com has tons of affordable flowergirl dresses so we got a great dress and saved money. I’m glad we found a cheap flower girl dress but didn’t sacrifice any quality or style.

All in all, planning our wedding has been a fun experience – and we’ve still got five months to go! I’ll keep you posted.

What do you think about men and wedding planning? How involved was your groom?
