Fabulous at 40: Helena Christensen sizzles in a purple bikini

She was famous for her underwear and bikini shots in her supermodel heyday, but Helena Christensen has still got the magic at 40.
The Danish model was spotted in a tiny purple bikini as she holidayed in St Barts.
She is in the Caribbean resort with son, Mingus, nine, U2 frontman Bono, his wife Ali Hewson and their children, Elijah, nine and seven-year-old John.
The close friends have all holidayed together in the past.
Helena's figure is the envy of many women half her age so it is no surprise that the former Victoria Secrets girl continues to model.
Last year Helena fronted a lingerie campaign as a saucy pirate queen for Agent Provocateur.
She stole the show from model-of-the-moment Alice Dellal, who is nearly 20 years her junior.
But as well as being a natural in front of the lens. But she is also a whizz behind the scenes.
She has officially snapped Bono as well as stars such as REM's Michael Stipe and Robbie Williams and held her first exhibition in 2006.
And she even photographed Bono's wife Ali's range of clothing for her company Edun in 2007.

Helena Christensen's Photography Role

Helena Christensen will take up a new role in this week's menswear shows, swapping modelling for photography, WWD reports.

The supermarket's camera skills are becoming more and more in demand and she will take her place in the photography pit at Saturday's Façonnable show in Paris. Helena will be shooting the debut show of her designer friend Eric Wright.

Helena said of her career change: "When you are modelling, you are creating a picture, a still life, perhaps something like a silent film. You convey emotion but you are only using your body and nothing else."

Helena Christensen's dark house

Helena Christensen does not have any lights in her houses.
The Danish supermodel is so conscious of the effect her electricity use has on the planet that she does everything she can to reduce her carbon footprint.
She said: "I have never had any proper lighting in my houses. I do have a few low-energy bulbs in my homes, but I try to use as little electricity as possible."
Helena insists she prefers to use alternative methods to light her properties, adding: "I have a lot of candles. I like the cosiness of them."
Helena, 39, also said she has learned to apply her make-up and get ready in near darkness.
She added: "After 20 years of modelling, I can do my make-up in utter darkness. And I grew up in a country where there is no light for half the year.
"But I always have a small mirror with me, so I can check myself when I get outside."
